Full line up for Hanley’s Your City Festival 2023 revealed with over 60 acts to play

With just eight weeks to go until the musical bonanza, Your City Festival has revealed the full lineup of acts set to play across at least six venues during the late May Bank holiday weekend.

From Saturday, May 27 to Sunday, May 28, more than 60 artists will take to stages in city centre grassroots venues for the festival’s sixth year.

The first 20 acts were announced in January, followed by a handful more in March, but as the fringe-style festival draws near, the list has finally been unveiled in its entirety.

As well as a whole host of top talent from across Staffordshire and Cheshire, Your City will also bring some of the UK’s hottest emerging talent to Stoke-on-Trent.

The performers will play some of the city’s much loved venues, including The Sugarmill and The Underground, as well as Royal Music Hall, AirSpace Gallery, The Backyard and The Werkroom, alongside a number of pop-up locations.

Viewed as Stoke-on-Trent’s version of Liverpool Sound City, or Neighbourhood Weekender, Your City Festival has cemented itself into the long existing musical heritage of Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire.

Founder and event coordinator, Ben Nixon, who also performs with the band Psyence, said: “There’s no bigger love than what we have for Stoke-on-Trent’s music scene. We’ll keep on building until the city is recognised as one of hottest industry hotspots. It’s happened before and it will happen again!”

Over the 48 hour event, it’s expected that more than 1,200 people will visit the city centre to watch the bands and musicians perform, discovering new music while supporting grassroots causes who are still very much recovering from the pandemic.

Event coordinator, Rich Hearn, added: “I’m just so grateful and proud of Ben for working so hard every year to make Your City Festival what it is. It’s a team effort but Ben is a musician on the local scene so he knows what local artists need and that’s what we’re trying to achieve; a platform for local artists to stick their heads above the parapet on a national scale.

“We’re really excited for this year and can’t wait to welcome artists, fans and industry again at the end of May.”

Day splits for the festival are expected to be announced next week – you can keep up to date with the latest via the Your City Festival socials. You can purchase your weekend or day tickets to the event here.
